Theater Etiquette Expectations:

  • Arrive on time: Please be in your seats before the performance begins. Late arrivals can disrupt both the actors and fellow audience members.
  • Silence your electronic devices: Turn off electronic devices that might produce sound or light during the performance. They interfere with the microphone system and are distracting to the performers.
  • No talking: Refrain from conversing during the show. Whispering, commenting, or asking questions can distract others and disrupt the actors' concentration.
  • Stay in your seat: Avoid getting up and down during the performance unless it's an emergency. If you must leave, do so during intermission or a suitable break. Please do not climb over seats at any time. Stand and walk to the aisle to move about the auditorium.
  • No flash photography or recording: Taking photos, recording videos, or using flash can be distracting and is strictly prohibited due to copyright and safety concerns.
  • Rustling and unwrapping: If you have snacks or candy, unwrap them before the show begins. Try to minimize any noise created by crinkling wrappers or noisy snack containers.
  • Applause and reactions: Feel free to express your appreciation with applause, laughter, or cheers during appropriate moments, but remember to keep it in check so as not to disrupt the flow of the performance.
  • Use the restroom before the show: Make sure to use the restroom before the performance starts to minimize disruptions for yourself and others.
  • Respect personal space: Be mindful of the personal space of those around you, especially in crowded theaters. Avoid leaning forward excessively or blocking others' view.
  • Coughs and sneezes: If you must cough or sneeze during the performance, try to do so quietly and discreetly to avoid disturbing others.
  • Interact with performers: Do not engage with the actors or crew during the performance or at intermission, even if you know them personally. Save your compliments and questions for the post-show meet-and-greet or reception in the lobby at the end of the performance.
  • Enjoy the show: Finally, relax, enjoy the performance, and remember that your courteous behavior enhances the theater experience for all patrons and the performers on stage.

Thank you for respecting these theater etiquette expectations, and enjoy the show!
