John Sikon - Music Director
John Sikon is enjoying his tenth year of directing choirs and musicals at Byron Nelson High School. “The Drowsy Chaperone” marks the thirteenth opportunity Mr. Sikon has had to conduct a musical production. Conducting the musical at Byron Nelson is one of his favorite times of the school year. Mr. Sikon’s choirs consistently earn Superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. Aside from teaching, Mr. Sikon also performs as a soloist and a section leader for the chancel choir at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas. Mr. Sikon holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Louisiana State University where he attended with a full tuition vocal scholarship. He would like to thank his Byron Nelson fine arts colleagues and students for their dedication to this huge collaborative project. He would also like to thank all of the Drowsy Chaperone musicians for allowing him the opportunity to sit in front of them and conduct this wonderful music.
James Hammer - Technical Director
Since 2011, Mr. Hammer and his technical crews have been creating the magical worlds in which our talented actors here at Byron Nelson tell their character’s stories. The Drowsy Chaperone is billed as “a musical within a comedy” and the challenges with this world is creating the Man in Chair’s apartment, but incorporating stylistic elements of a musical from the 20’s. What fun it’s been! He’d like to thank his wife, Christy, for her support through eighteen years of the high school theatre experience.
Sam Howard - Choreographer
Sam Howard, a freshman at Tarrant County College, has choreographed NISD’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. and Mary Poppins Jr. along with assisting Vincent Donato in the choreography of Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Addams Family. Sam has had an enlightening experience working with the cast and is extremely proud of all dedication they have put into this production. Sam would like to give a huge thank you to Joe Caskey who played a huge part in the choreographic process. Sam is extremely grateful for the opportunities this department has given her and hopes to continue working with the wonderful directors involved in the creation of this production.
