There are times that you know for sure that God has his hand on a project. That it’s bigger than you. That’s what I know is true about this play. I’m thankful that He chose to use me as a vessel to bring these characters to life. And in some way He uses it to teach, inspire, provoke, challenge, enlighten and heal the people who witness it.

There are so many people to thank!

First, I want to thank Anthony D'Juan for taking this journey with me and for having the courage to write female characters from a place of love and honesty, not ego. Thank you for going with every crazy idea I've had for this play over the last 12 years. Thank you for letting me add to the development of these characters because as I developed them I found that I, too, had developed into more of who I'm supposed to be.

Thank you to Black Women - the girls, the elders, the hood chicks, the awkward black girls, the bosses, the single moms, the "Aunties", and the Big Mama's. I love you all so much! There is no me without you. I'm proud to be one of you.

Thank you to my amazing family and friends that have been there since I put this up in a warehouse in Van Nuys in 2011. Some of ya'll have seen this over five times. Some of ya'll worked the box office. Ushered. Stage managed. Gave money to get us to the United Solo Festival in NYC. Hosted talkbacks for the show. Worked as our street team.  Told your circles of influence about the show. We would not be where we are without your arms lifting us.

Thank you to CMA Entertainment for believing in me and this play. Thank you for partnering with me to produce my first equity run of this show. I've gone from producing it for 3 days to 3 weeks!! Look at God!! LOL

And lastly thank you to the late award-winning scenic designer John Lacovelli. He designed the set for this production and he did it at no cost. He said "Don't worry about the money. I want to do this for you. I want people to see you shine." I am so inspired by his generosity and the fact that he continued to create until he took his last breath. He was an incredible artist who always wanted to collaborate with actors and give them the freedom to create the world for the audience. This run of '3: Black Girl Blues' is dedicated to him.
