Mary Poppins - May 20 - May 23, 2015

Captain Nichola Goddard School

 Message from the School

We are very pleased to be presenting the first school-based theatrical production of Mary Poppins in Canada. Moreover, we are very proud of the many students and staff who have contributed their time, talent and creative energy to the success of this ambitious undertaking. This marks our third musical production and second full-length presentation in our three years of operation. Our theatrical director, Mr. Steve Martin, is to be commended for his ongoing commitment to providing students with unique opportunities to experience the world of real theatre. In addition to the myriad of lessons and skills that our large group of contributors have learned through their responsibilities and roles, we trust that there is something to be gained by the school as a collective. After all, the story of Mary Poppins is a powerful story of care, compassion and a commitment to children.

Not unlike the staff in our school, Mary Poppins leads a group of children through a series of adventures that involve taking calculated risks, laughing and experiencing great success. In this story, as in our school, young minds are taught the importance of exploring their gifts and talents while keeping their eyes and hearts open to others. Just as Mary Poppins becomes a staple in the lives of the children in her care, we as educators recognize that our school, and the people in it, become fixtures in the lives of our students.  Inevitably, years and situations change like the winds, and it is time for new chapters. We hope the message of this play resonates within each of you and trust that the memories of this school year will stay with you into far into the future. Once again, thank you to everyone involved in this truly magical production.

Kind Regards,

Dr. Joy Chadwick, Principal

Mr. Stephen Hart, Assistant Principal
