Honk, Jr. - March 20 - March 21, 2015

Centerstage Academy

 A Note from the Director

Honk! Jr. is a whimsical and bright musical retelling of the beloved Hans Christian Andersen classic, The Ugly Duckling. From the moment Ugly is hatched, he is shunned by his father Drake, siblings, and barnyard neighbors for looking much different than the rest. When the young bird becomes separated from his mother Ida, he meets several larger than life characters on the way. From a sinister but jazzy feline to a squadron of military geese and even a joke-telling bullfrog, Ugly learns that being different is beautiful and everyone deserves love and acceptance.

I am beyond proud of this cast and could not be more honored to direct each and every one of these kids. I say this often, but kids are some of the most honest and poignant storytellers and are an absolute joy to work with. Since we began the rehearsal process in the fall, I have seen tremendous growth in the performance skills and etiquette that we teach in Elementary Theater class and strive to uphold at Centerstage Academy. Ready to work, bright, passionate, these young and energetic performers not only have worked hard towards a stellar production, but have had a blast in the process!

I want to personally thank the faculty, volunteers, parents and students of Centerstage Academy that have made this production possible. It could not happen without the collaborative effort of everyone involved.

Without further ado, we hope you enjoy this poultry tale of folk down on the farm!
