With such incredible people making up the Harlequin Club, it isn’t difficult to be proud of everything we have accomplished this year. Even in such a short amount of time, watching our peers grow into their best selves under the nurture of our club’s directors has been a complete honor. Being able to feel some form of normalcy in the process of White Christmas has been a breath of fresh air—though it’s not an easy task to put on a full-length musical in just two months, and we will never stop being amazed by all the talented people who did not shy away from that challenge. Seeing cast members run through choreography together, new crew members getting to know the ins and outs of the auditorium, and everyone working as one to make this show better than we could have ever dreamed, despite the possibility of it all being taken away tomorrow, has only validated our hope and love for this club. Harlequin Club has always been a loving environment for anybody who finds their way through our auditorium doors, and we are thrilled that has remained true with this year’s group of fantastic performers. What never fails to make Harlequin Club so special is its innate spirit and resilience, which definitely held true during whatever adventure White Christmas threw at us. Because of our phenomenal creative team, this club has been able to serve as a safe space for all students. We are all incredibly thankful to get to work with Jessica, Phoenix, Suzanne, Cheri, and Jordan as often as we can, because to have them to lean on is to truly feel that you are loved as a member of this club. Which is to say, Harlequin does not feel like a “club”, but through the years—or even just the few months we have had so far this year—this club becomes a family. We have both completely transformed through our time in the Harlequin Club, and we could not be more excited to share the growth of our family with all of you. ~Addisan Arbogast and Ellie Kuhnle, Co-Presidents
