Oklahoma! - March 14 - March 17, 2024

Central Regional High

 Directors Notes

Oklahoma was a groundbreaking musical that set the stage for all musicals that followed it! The genius of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s exuberant classic is a lively musical full of cowboys, farmers, romance, and fearless optimism. It brings vivid characterizations and details about the day-to-day lives of these 1904 settlers headed out west. The play delves deeply into their complicated emotional lives, resiliency, humor, and life-and-death struggles as they try to make a living working the land and raising cattle. All while starting to create a community that accepts everyone, even themselves. This community stays together and supports each other no matter what happens. This show is as satisfying, and relevant today as it has ever been. Central Regional has brought Oklahoma to the stage two other times, in 1976 and 1994. We are thrilled to bring its beloved music, energetic dances, and life lessons to you again 30 years later.
