Chaparral High School

 End Notes

A Note from the Director -

It is an honor and privilege to work with so many talented and dedicated young men and women. One of my great joys is watching a theatre student create an original idea and find a way to make it happen so others can see it. Sometimes an actor thinks of a new way to deliver a line or a designer comes up with a solution to a problem all on his or her own. Theatre teaches so many communication and critical thinking skills that will stick with students the rest of their lives.

A special thank you goes out to my family for their love and support. I would also like to thank the Patrons for the Performing Arts for the endless work, the Chaparral administration for believing in the arts, Think 360 Arts for naming Chaparral the Outstanding Arts School for 2014, and the faculty of Chaparral for embracing the arts, also.

Please enjoy this British farce. It is full of great one-liners, tons of physical comedy, moments of slapstick, and many other crazy situations. This cast and crew have challenged themselves to bring you the best piece of theatre they can produce. I hope you enjoy the time, talents, and energy of the over 60 students involved in this production.

Enjoy,

David Peterson

Plot Summary-

Michael Cooney's riotous British farce has all the ingredients for rib-tickling hilarity. Eric Swan (aided by his Uncle George and unbeknown to his wife, Linda) has pocketed thousands of pounds through fraudulent government claims. When Norman McDonald (the lodger) opens the door to Mr. Jenkins, the government inspector, deceptive mayhem follows — as do the undertaker, bereavement counselor, psychiatrist, Norman's fiancée, a corpse, the ominous Ms. Cowper and a rather rebellious washing machine! Watch as one lie leads to too many to count.
