James and the Giant Peach JR - April 26 - April 27, 2024

Charles S. Rushe Middle School

 Acknowledgements

There are so many people to thank because this definitely would not have been possible without the help of many people. I had a vision of a giant peach with five layers on stage and we actually made it happen!

Thank you to Gene Kish for helping me figure out how I should plan it and thank you to Tom Bronson, Mathew Lima, and Ron Schuman for building it and making it safe for the kids.

Thank you to my artists who made everything so beautiful. Alex Cortada did the rough sketches, Jen Reilly put them on 8' x 4' walls, and then so many people spent time painting and making everything come to life, including Alex coming in at the end to complete the vision for the peach and the tree.

Thank you to Jennie Wolfe for creating our awesome rhino. And thanks to Jen Phipps who bought so many props and is the queen of the Dollar Store finds!

Thank you to Colleen McEvoy and the Theatre Department at Carrollwood Day School for lending us some props.

Thank you to Todd Weiner for the use of his lights and for setting everything up for us. You always come through for us!

Thank you to Heather Crimella at Glitter Makes It for donating "The Giant Peach" glitter to give our peaches some extra sparkle.

Thank you to Renee and Michael McCarty who brought me supplies whenever I needed them (including food) and who flew in our friend to help design the seagulls, sharks, and insects. Melody, I wish you could have spent another week with us!

Thank you to Don Jacobs, Steven Buck, and all of our custodial staff for cleaning up after us and always being ready to help when we needed them.

Thank you to Dan Brockman for making these kids sound so amazing and helping them reach their full potential. You're an inspiration to me and to our students every day.

Thank you to my husband for spending all of what could have been his "free time" here with me at school building this crazy set. I promise, next year I'll keep it simpler.

Thank you to all of the parents who donated food, time, props, or just got your kids to and from rehearsals for the past few months. Your support means the world to me and to your children.

Finally, thank you to David Salerno and all of the administration at Charles S. Rushe Middle School. We love how much you support and celebrate the arts here at our school.

We hope you enjoy the show!
