Freaky Friday - March 28 - April 13, 2025

Charlotte High School

 End Notes

A note from the Director:

Every year around this time, the students ask me, "What shows are we doing next year?" Of course, my first thought is "let's just get finished with this one first." Over my years as a drama teacher, I have selected shows for a variety of reasons. Some shows just fit the strengths and abilities of my students, and others just feel like they'd be fun to produce. Often a particular show just appeals to my sense of taste and I really enjoy the story. Sometimes the students suggest one of their favorites. Either way, I usually have an idea of what we should produce as a troupe for the next school year.

Honestly, in March/April of 2024, I had NO CLUE.  Nothing was calling out to me. It is in those moments that my students come through for me. They start researching choices and bring me suggestions. In fact, I have to give credit where credit is due. Kiara Petro, CHS Alumni, gently suggested to me that I take a look at this show. She was keenly aware of what's important to me as a director. Does the show fit with my students? Is it fun? Is it inspiring? And, mostly, what kind of message does it send?

When I chose Freaky Friday, the students' excitement was evident! It is my hope that their energy, excitement, and performance will remind you of the importance of family, the importance of understanding the perspective of others, and the importance of challenging ourselves to always try a little harder!

I give a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in producing this show: my production team, students, volunteers, parents, and CHS faculty and staff members. May we all feel a little bit of the Freaky Friday magic and the joy of theatre!
