A letter from Mr. Spears:
Welcome to TARZAN the Stage Musical! It has been my pleasure during this show to step back a bit and allow my students into the driver's seat for this production. From Grace doing the majority of the blocking and lights, to Brooke doing Choreography, to many cast members pitching in with the set construction, it has truly been an amazing sight. I am blessed to work at a school that not only allows me the freedom to allow my students to take charge, but also pushes them to be leaders and step up into these positions. I can honestly say that not many juniors and seniors at other schools can say that they are "in charge" of the Spring musical! It has been a special treat to play a role in this show with my students and to help develop the direction of one of my students come to life!
To the parents of my kids: Thank you! Thank you for allowing me to love your students and for allowing me to work with them. I have learned as much, if not more, from them than they have learned from me. I have learned patience ;), I have learned to multitask more efficiently, I have learned to let go, and I have learned that I am exactly where I need to be. Your kids are amazing. They are talented. They are exceptional individuals who have a very bright future in front of them. So, thank you for allowing me to be a part of that.
To my kids: I love you all. You have once again far exceeded my expectations and hopes for a show. You have come to Saturday rehearsals, late night rehearsals (usually after athletics!), and have done it all with positive attitudes and have done everything I've asked of you. I can not be more proud. YOU have breathed life into this show and I can not wait for everyone to see your hard work. Thank you for trusting me and the directing team and for doing all the crazy things I've asked of you through this process. You are phenomenal! Dream big, reach high, and never give up!! I love you!
To the faculty, staff, and administration at CCA: Thank you for all you do. For volunteering your time and offering to help me with anything that I need. I can not express how nice it is to feel that I have a TEAM of people who are there for anything I need. I feel appreciated and I feel like I could come to any of you with anything and you'd jump to help me. So, for that, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you all!
Last, but certainly not least, to Mrs. Cobb, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Cates: You three have jumped in with both feet to make this production happen. This is the first show that I've ever completely "let go" of the tasks of costuming, set, and props. WOW! You ladies are amazing. You brought people together to make all of my visions come to life and I honestly just can not thank you enough. I appreciate you more than you will ever know. Thank you for loving my kids. Thank you for loving the arts. Thank you for just being you and for doing everything you can to help me. I love yall! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Now. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy the hard work that these students have put into this production!!
