Church Basement Ladies

 Who's Who

  • Dorian Chalmers

    as KARIN

Dorian has been performing for decades throughout the Twin Cities. In 2005, she originated the role of Karin Engelson in The Church Basement Ladies, and has been “in the basement” for all nine installments of this beloved musical. Previous performances at the Plymouth Playhouse include Country Roads: The Music of John Denver, Christmas My Way, Ring of Fire, and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. You can catch her donning an apron in The Looney Lutherans or see her celebrating the holidays in Spiked. Her vocals are highlighted on two original albums by Dennis Curley and Jim Robinson: Honeywine’s Gods Among Us and A Desert in Bloom. You may have seen her at Mancini’s Char House, where she spent a decade singing and shaking her . . . uh . . . tambourine.

  • Greta Grosch

    as MAVIS

An actor, writer, director and public speaker, Greta has a wealth of experience in both commercial and business theatre. Greta originated the role of Mavis Gilmerson in all nine of the Church Basement Ladies musicals, and served as scriptwriter for the last eight musicals in the series. In addition, she has appeared in dozens of television and radio commercials; creates educational and entertaining programming for a variety of corporate clients; wrote the annual Medora Musical for 18 seasons, and regularly serves as director for theatrical productions around the region. She is thrilled to be back in the basement with “the ladies”, and is particularly excited to welcome her real-life goddaughter to the fold! Special thanks to Curt, Janet, Suzann, Katy and Tom for all the opportunities. For more information visit gretagrosch.com.

  • Janet Paone

    as VIVIAN

I created the role of Vivian Snustad 20 yrs ago and I’m still whipping up egg coffee to this day! I dedicate my performance to Curt Wollan, my mentor and dear friend whose support has meant the world to me. As I always say “every day on this side of the ground is a good day“ Enjoy the show!
