For more than four decades, the City Theatre of Independence has been honored to partner with the City of Independence, nurturing a rich and vibrant arts program within this municipally supported space dedicated to cultural expression.

We express our sincere appreciation to the many city officials who have consistently supported our endeavors by endorsing this exceptional venue. Their steadfast commitment has enabled us to achieve our mission of bringing quality theatre to our community and enriching the cultural landscape of Independence. This collective effort is made possible by the invaluable contributions of our dedicated volunteers and loyal patrons, who continually show their support by attending performances that offer high-quality, affordable theatre, many of which are right in their community. Notably, many of our passionate volunteers travel considerable distances to join us, motivated by specific shows or directors with whom they aspire to collaborate, further enhancing our theatrical offerings.

As questions arise about the future of our venue, it is important to acknowledge that the path ahead is not yet clear. However, we believe in the strength of collective voices and community support. We encourage you to reach out to your district councilman to express the importance of the arts in our community. The City Theatre of Independence has played a significant role in the performing arts programming for the Independence community for 45 years.
