You're My Boy - June 06 - June 15, 2025

City of Dublin - Abbey Theater of Dublin

 20 years in the making

Herb Brown's "You're My Boy" is a play which

has taken many forms over the years.

Brown developed the play for several years prior to its world premiere. He, however, did not do so in a vacuum. In 2004, "You're My Boy" had its first reading at CATCO. The following year, CATCO would produce the 2005 world premiere directed by Geoffrey Nelson. The production was nominated for a Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) Award.

Original cast: Marianne Timmons as Pat, Jonathan Putnam as Nixon, & Mark Mann as Chotiner.

Following this, "You're My Boy" would also have serveral readings in New York. The first at Shelter Studio in 2007 and then a few at The Actor's Studio in 2009. The readings at The Actor's Studio were produced by Judy Gordon, directed by Joel Froomkin, and starred Patrick Page as Richard Nixon, David Garrison as Dwight D. Eisenhower, & Carolee Carmello as Pat Nixon. Then, in 2012, UCLA East held a reading at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace Museum.

Herb Brown with Nixon. Probably saying "you're not my boy."

And now, 20 years after its world premiere, "You're My Boy" returns to Columbus in the form you see tonight. We are deeply honored to present this play for its 20th anniversary, partner with Herb Brown, and have you join its story tonight.
