Miss Nelson is Missing! - December 10 - December 12, 2020

Clear Brook High School

 Director's Note

Welcome to the CB Players first ever drive in theatre experience!

Thank you for taking time to come share a story with us. We would like to extend our appreciation for your support of the arts in this tumultuous time and we hope that you have managed to pass through life relatively unscathed by these world changing events.

Since last spring, Michelle and I had been searching for the right story to tell with this year’s kids. Sometimes a script seems to fly off the shelf at you. In this case, it was a childhood classic. We wanted to tell a story that was so silly, so light, that you couldn’t help but love it. That was where Miss Nelson is Missing came in.

As we put the show together, however, our company came to see and respect a deeper message about this play. Since coming back after last year was abruptly moved to at home learning, we have noticed that both teachers and students have a deeper appreciation for this building, the people it holds, and the learning that takes place within it. This show, and the process of putting it up, have come to represent so much more to us. It is the story of a group of people who finally found a harmonious resolution after a very difficult separation. It’s a story that teaches us the future is bright indeed.

We want to thank the parents who stepped up to help us out; the directors at Clear Creek and Clear Springs for lending us their time, materials and expertise; our alumni volunteers for their assistance, Coach Byrd for allowing us to take over his classroom and our wonderful custodial staff for helping us navigate a show on the other side of the building. Also, a very, very special thank you to the administrative and counseling staff for their tireless support and efforts in helping us navigate the rigorous and arduous process of COVID teaching and COVID theatre. Our kids' awesomeness is exponentially magnified because of your guidance and love.

We are so grateful for the ability to produce a live show with our company when theatre in so many places has been relegated to virtual performances and delighted to share this performance with each of you.

Thank you for your support of the CB Players and Enjoy the show!

Sincerely,

-Asa & Michelle Smith
