Seussical Jr. - May 04 - May 05, 2018

Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School

 Director's Note

Seussical is a very special musical because it allows the audience to transport themselves back to their childhood and enjoy the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss.  Seussical has always been a favorite musical of mine and I am so happy that I finally got the chance to direct such a fantastic show!

In my experience, audience members are able to see themselves in at least one of these characters throughout the show.  Whether they are like Horton, the humanitarian-like character who believes "a person's a person no matter how small," the mischievious Cat in the Hat who is always getting others into trouble, Jojo the Who, the child with the wild imagination that "thinks" all of these creatures, Mayzie, the over-confident, sassy bird who is not afraid to tell everyone how it is, or Gertrude, the hopeless romantic who just wants someone to notice her, everyone can connect with these characters.

This journey would not have been possible without the tireless effort of so many people.  I am so grateful to have a fantastic team of creative people to work with!

Ms. Natale: I feel honored to have someone like you to handle things behind the scenes!  I also love that with your help, so many more students have been able to be involved with stage crew!  You have helped to make our show beautiful and colorful!

Ms. Wright: I remember us being terrified when we chose this musical last year, simply because of the complexity of the music.  Thank you for working so hard to teach our cast these wacky songs (with words that make no sense)!

Ms. Huyck: Thank you for working so hard with your Stage Design class to transform our colorless stage into the wonferful world of Dr. Seuss!

Cianna Lee: I love having you as my student director. I wish you could stay here forever!  Thank you for always being so on top of things and thinking of things that even I forget!

Reena Smith & Emani Purchas: You are both amazing!  Thank you so much for giving this show your heart, your fantastic ideas, and your dedication.  You both have a bright, shining future ahead of you as dancers, choreographers, and performers.  Now, let's start choreographing next year's musical!

To the Cast & Crew: Thank you!  Thank you for being here, for your dedication, for your time that you have given to rehearsal.  Thank you for always making me smile, for making me laugh, and making me the proudest Drama Mama.  I love spending my time with you!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss!
