Urinetown The Musical - October 11 - October 18, 2014

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

THANK YOU!  Thank you for the trust, the faith and the support.  Thank you for standing behind me, the cast and the crew.  I know that some things are easy to support: the traditional, the conventional, the conservative...  Some things are harder.  UrineTown: the Musical must fall in the latter category.  I know how difficult it was to call grandparents and say, "Come see your grandchild in Urinetown."  (Trust me I know, I had to call my own mother.  Her response, "You're doing what?  Why?  You mean You're in Town - right???)  I'm sure you know how the rest of the conversation goes...

I know I asked all of you to take a leap of faith when I asked to perform this show.  So to everyone who trusted me and believed in this program and these students, I say thank you. From the booster club to the parents, to the school board members, to the administrators and principals, to the students, to my colleagues, to my family and friends and to the audience members who paid the ticket price to see this fantastically quirky show - I say we won't disappoint you. If you enjoy watching it half as much as we enjoyed putting it together, you will have an exciting evening. One that will make you glad you came to UrineTown

On a different note I have to say that I am so proud of this student-led production.  For the first time at CHHS, a main-stage show has been choreographed, designed, and vocally directed by our own incredibly talented students.  The performance you will witness tonight is a testimony to the leadership, talent, dedication, and creativity CHHS students possess. Every moment of this production, showcases some student's incredible ability to bring a story to life.  Their passion for the art of theatre bursts forth in the color of the lights, the intricacy of the dance steps, the details in the costumes, the creative use of props, the theatricality of the set, and the precision of the music. These students have impressed and inspired me beyond words!
