The Little Mermaid - April 16

Coral Reef Senior High School

 Director's Notes:

A Note from Ms. Arca:

As a new member of the 'Cuda family, I am thrilled to have this show be my introduction to Coral Reef. I am extremely proud of the work these kids have put in to make this show a success. However, a successful show is more than what is seen onstage.  It is the coutless hours of planning and executing the directors vision.  All of this hardwork could not have happened without the help of some notable people.

First and foremost, Mrs. Williams, my TD and partner in crime.  We've only just begun working together and yet it feels like I've known you a lifetime. Thank you for tolerating me and my antics.  I look forward to the many adventures we will experience in the future.

Thank you the administration, faculty, and staff that have been so accomodating and welcoming!

Booster Club Parents- You guys rock!

Mrs. Cabrera thank you for everything! I wanna be you when I grow up!

To my loving family- You are my everything.  Words cannot express how much you mean to me.

Enjoy the show and allow us to take you on a voyage under the sea!

A Note from Mrs. Williams:

As an old member of the 'Cuda family, I am thrilled to be back! I graduated from Coral Reef in 2005 and have been involved in drama education ever since. Mrs. Ana Mederos-Blanco took me on under her wings and I am forever grateful for her mentorship and reccomendation to come back to the Reef. It was because of her retirement that I was introduced to the very talented Ms. Arca and have had such a pleasure working alongside her keeping alive the traditions and adding a zest of our own skills and talents into the program. Thank you to the administration, parents and students for understanding this transitional school year, befriending and accepting us into the 'Cuda family.

If you take a look onstage, take notice that this entire production was student, teacher and parent made. In our shops we have sewing machines and drills that are resting back in their places for the next show. We have students that have a new set of skills to add to their toolbelt for their craft. Full productions like these teach students how to become well-rounded performers and technicians. They are ready to take on any theatre related career and college major from the moment they graduate this high school. That says a lot! Sometimes, I remind myself, it's not about how impressive the production is (it is though), but what the students learned from this production to add to their toolbelt.

I dedicate this production to Ms. Arca, which I totally "fangirled" over the fact that she played Ariel in real life (Ahhhh!!!). To my forever teacher who gave us several opportunities in her many years of teaching to add things to our toolbelt, Mrs. Ana "Queeny" Mederos-Blanco. To my godmother, who recently passed, she had RSVPed and wanted to be here tonight to show her support, but I know she's here in spirit.  And to my family, who have come on this journey with me, knowing my career doesn't end at the ring of the bell, and happily follow and support me to make my teaching dreams come true.
