The Wedding Singer - April 09 - April 11, 2019

Coral Reef Senior High School

 Director's Notes

Having grown up in the 80's, directing a musical like The Wedding Singer has always been a dream of mine.  The dream started to become a reality after hearing the quirky love song "Grow Old With You" and realizing that the talent for comedy and voices to match were all sitting in our production class.  All of these students possess a great sense of comedic timing and a passion for theatre that is the necessary recipe for a great comedy musical.  So choosing this musical seemed like the perfect fit. However, directing a musical is a daunting task and I couldn’t have done it without Mrs. Williams. Her creativity and attention to detail is second to none!

I would also like to thank my family, Laz, Emily, Ariana, and Alex who have always been so supportive. I love you all more than words could express!

Lastly, I'd like to take a moment to also acknowledge and give a heartfelt thanks to our administration for being so supportive of us and to the parents (Drama Mamas!!) for going above and beyond for all of our students!

And now, please sit back and let us transport you back to the time of rubiks cubes, Aqua Net, and plastic bangles! Enjoy the show!!!

Ms. Arca

This is our second year co-directing a spring musical production here at Coral Reef Senior High School. Working alongside Ms. Arca has taught me so much and I am humbled to work alongside her. It's always a pleasure to make her vision come to life in whatever way I can possibly help. We are both extremely proud of those students who stand firm for their passion and love for the arts and their troupe. As an alumni of this troupe, I have been in awe at how much this program has grown and flourished throughout the years. This program has been wonderful not only because of its teachers, but the parents, students, administration and friends who have always supported the enthusiasm the children have here for the arts and for each other. We truly have fostered a family environment. As in every family, there have been ups and downs, peaks and downfalls, but it's the love that ties us together and its demonstrated in the peak moments such as these. This production demonstrates how much students have grown in this program with four passionate theatre educators since their freshmen year and how much fun they can have while learning. Please sit back, have fun with us and take yourself back to the 80s.

Dramatically and lovingly yours,

Mrs. Williams
