Notes from the Director
Midsummer Jersey by Ken Ludwig is a modern telling of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. If you are familiar with the play you will see that all of the characters are there, fairies and all, just a bit more modern. This script, written by one of the theatre's best comic playwrights, was designed to be performed by students for students. April 23rd marked the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and this script and hopefully our production is a reminder that 400 years later Shakespeare is still an admired and loved playwright.
How exciting it is for all of us to mount the first theatrical production in this beautiful new theatre. I have had such a good time staging this production because the cast, most of them making their stage debut, have made this a truly enjoyable experience. Most of this cast had no idea the commitment it takes to put on a production and I am hopeful they feel the time was worth it. We all survived tech week and are very excited to show you our production of Midsummer Jersey. A special thank you to my Assistant Director, Emily, I could not have done this production without all her hard work.
Sit back, relax in our new theatre, and enjoy the show!
