We are so extremely proud of all of the students and their hard work this year. Beauty and the Beast, JR. is a huge production to put on for Corpus Christi Drama's first show and these kids have met it with such excitement and enthusiasm. It has been a learning process at every step of the way and we want to thank our Drama families for coming along with us on this journey.
We never could have anticipated a cast of 60+ students ranging from Kindergarten to 7th grade! Practices have been full of singing, dancing, giggling, the occasional shenanigans but always fun. This is an elementary school play, this is not Broadway. Mistakes might get made on show nights, a line or a cue may get forgotten or delayed, and that is okay. Snafus happen at even the highest level of performing. The kids have all worked so hard and they should all be as proud of themselves as we are of them. A production, with this age group, is not about being perfect, it is about learning and doing your BEST. Whether a student had one line or sixty, were on or off stage, every role is important. Every student shares in the pride and success of this accomplishment.
We have watched the kids blossom right before our eyes. Some going from shy to outgoing, from unsure to confident and each one has progressed over the last several months. The beauty of the arts is not so much what the audience sees on the stage the night of the show but what happens inside the children over the process. The transformation of the students has been such a gift to see. Thank you for entrusting us with them.
