From the Director:
When we selected this show, I knew it would challenge our students in the best possible ways. The music, movement, and characters all demanded courage, creativity, and vulnerability; and our cast and crew have risen to that challenge beautifully. Watching them grow throughout this process has been an absolute privilege. Their dedication and artistry have made every rehearsal a joy, and I could not be prouder of the talent and heart they’ve poured into this production.
Directing and choreographing this show has been one of the more rewarding experiences of my career, not only because of the students’ growth but because it stretched me as an artist as well. This production pushed my own creativity and gave me the chance to reconnect with dance, which has been both energizing and deeply fulfilling. Exploring how movement could tell this story has been a joyful reminder of why I fell in love with theatre and dance in my youth. Watching these students discover their own love for this art form has reminded me why I chose this career in the first place. Theatre has the power to change lives, and seeing them embrace that power has been the greatest reward of all.
I am endlessly grateful to call Cy-Fair my home. The support from our administration and community makes all the difference, and I truly feel lucky to work alongside such dedicated educators. Most of all, I want to thank my teaching partner, Tyler, who has become my ride-or-die through every rehearsal, stressful day, and late-night anxiety induced text messages. His passion and partnership make this program stronger every single day, and I couldn’t imagine doing this without him.
Finally, I need to thank my incredible husband, Alex, for supporting the countless hours I’ve poured into this production. His patience, encouragement, and love make all of this possible. And to my sweet daughter, Cora: thank you for bringing light and laughter into even the most stressful days. You are my greatest joy, and you remind me why this work matters.
To borrow the words of Ride the Cyclone: “Even in our darkest moments, we can still find the light.” May this show remind us all that, no matter where we are on life’s ride, there’s a place for each of us in this world.
Best,
