Shrek The Musical - April 20 - April 22, 2017

Cypress Creek High School

 Acknowledgements

Shrek will be the 11th musical I've directed here at CCHS and it feels like I JUST started here. I find that I am still growing, learning and wanting to better myself as a mentor, artist, and teacher. When I hear a student say “You are the reason I come to school.” it motivates me to be the best I can be.

I am so excited for our community to see this production. It is becoming one of my favorite shows. It has great music, wonderful choreography and a story of friendship, love, and acceptance. I feel like this story is a story that rings in our world right now.

I have to be honest, I'm tired, I miss my family and this show is COMPLICATED! I am SO happy we are opening and I'm so proud of what we've made.

I would like to say thank you to West Orange and Timber Creek for donating so much to us. I have never felt more like an OCPS Theatre Family as I have this year.

With the amount of work and the weeks and weeks of testing and the hundreds of times my kids are told about their end of year exams and teaching to the test and stadardized testing I truly believe my program is an oasis from all of the state mandated mess that we are bombarded with. The fact that I have a program is something I'm so thankful for and my principal, Dr. McHale is wonderful in his support of us. He deserves an award.

Please enjoy our show tonight and keep in mind that it's supposed to look easy, but we have spent HUNDREDS of hours rehearsing, painting, building, sweating, bleeding, and crying. My students are THE BEST kids and I'm SO SO lucky to have a group of students that trust me, listen to me, and work their butts off.

I am a lucky man to get to talk about theatre, my passion, every day with students that are willing to listen, learn, and try.

I hope you see the love and work we put into this show.

We thank you very much for supporting the arts, and high school theatre.

I truly believe we will exceed your expectations of what "high school theatre" can be .
