 Theatre Etiquette

Here are some helpful tips to make your evening at the theatre more enjoyable:

Hearing a Pin Drop

We are delighted if the performance is the “talk of the town,” but please wait until intermission or the final curtain to engage in lengthy conversations. Everyone will certainly hear the sound of a crumpling cellophane wrapper. Popping your candy into your mouth before entering the theatre is a great way to avoid this dilemma.

We Were Here, Where Were You?

Arriving late to the theatre is not considered “fashionably late.” After the performance has begun, a latecomer will be asked to wait until a suitable moment to enter the theatre before being seated. This reminder also applies to intermission.

Lovely to Look at…and Preserve

Help us preserve the condition of our BRAND NEW beautiful auditorium by finishing all food and beverage before entering the theatre and depositing all trash into the appropriate containers in the lobby.

OMG! Did You See What She Was Wearing?

Dress appropriately for the theatre. Skimpy clothing is for the clubs, not a show. A gentleman never wears a hat indoors!

What’s the Buzz

Just as you have become one with the performers, your neighbor suddenly becomes an alarm clock. Watches, alarms, cell phones and beepers are distracting and annoying to everyone!

Rated PG-13

Babies are beautiful and little children are so fun to play with, but not in the theatre. They shouldn’t be running up and down the aisles or allowed to cry incessantly. If you are unable to find a babysitter, please take your child to the lobby if they are unable to pay attention for an entire play or become unhappy. Additionally, not all plays produced in high school are suitable for small children!

The Paparazzi

Photography (especially flash photography) is a violation of our contract. Please refrain from shooting the show until after the performance. The actors are always happy to pose on set.

The Great Escape

A quick departure is noticeable by everyone in the audience and especially the performers onstage. Making a mad dash for the exit expresses inconsiderate behavior. The performers can see you, so please wait until the house lights go up to leave.
