Poe: Dreams of Madness - October 21 - October 23, 2022

Dallastown Area High School

Notes from the director:

Though school may have resumed a five-day-a-week, in-person schedule, we are far from "back to normal." The effects of the pandemic still pervade our everyday lives, and this production is no different. Since we began the audition process in May, twelve actors have left the production for various reasons. Illnesses still plague our rehearsal and crew attendance, and the supply chain disruption continues to be an issue. Despite it all, the students you see and those you don't have perservered, picking up roles in addition to their original casting, picking up jobs backstage they have never done before, and helping each other though it all, teaching and learning together.

As an unfunded school group, the Dallastown Performing Arts Club is a 99% student-driven company. The scenic design, blocking, lighting & sound design, costumes, hair & make-up, props, character development, and publicity are all designed, collected, constructed, and executed by the students. This is an impressive feat, particularly considering the fact these kids are balancing the tough work of production with full class loads and other extracurriculars as well as their family lives. We are eternally grateful to our parents and other adult volunteers who have donated their time, talents, and expertise backstage, in the lobby, and as taxi services for these dedicated young people.

Thank you for joining us this Halloween season. We hope you enjoy the show, and we look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming dinner theater one-night-only comedy:
