With the passing of the years, the curse of the wicked Carabosse has long been forgotten. Everyone is having a wonderful time at the celebration and they did not notice Carabosse disguised in a cloak in their midst. Aurora is especially charmed by this curious woman who entices her with an unusually beautiful bouquet; within it there is concealed a needle sharp spindle. The king and queen are horrified to see Aurora dancing with the spindle and before they can stop her it is too late. She pricks her finger, dances in a spellbound frenzy and falls to the ground. Carabosse triumphantly removes her cloak revealing herself to the king, queen and their guests. Certain of her revenge, she leaves the palace garden.
Just as all seems lost, the Lilac Fairy and her attendants appear. The Lilac Fairy reminds the king and queen of her promise that Aurora will not die, but instead sleep for 100 years. The Lilac Fairy casts a spell over the entire kingdom, putting people and animals alike into a deep slumber. The surrounding gardens and forest run wild and beautifully overgrown rose bushes cover the castle walls.
ACT II - THE VISION & AWAKENING
100 years later, The Forest of the Castle Garden
With the passage of time, the story of the sleeping kingdom and the enchanted sleeping princess are lost and forgotten. And for 100 years the castle with the Sleeping Beauty remains undiscovered.
Then, one day, the handsome Prince Desire is out hunting with his entourage.
As the hunting party moves on, the prince remains behind inexplicably bored and melancholy. When evening approaches, the Lilac Fairy appears and tells him the story of The Sleeping Beauty, showing him Princess Aurora who calls out to him from her dream to be awakened. He falls in love with her. As the vision fades, he begs the Lilac Fairy to help him find the castle. They depart. The Lilac Fairy leads him to the undisturbed castle. Prince Desire bravely cuts his way through the overgrown rose bushes and discovers the sleeping court. As Lilac continues to lead him to the chamber where Aurora sleeps, he fights off the evil Carabosse and her birds and creatures. Finally the prince comes upon the Aurora, The Sleeping Beauty, and awakens her with a kiss. The Spell is broken and the kingdom awakes. Good has triumphed!
