It has been a great pleasure working with the cast and crew for this year’s musical. This continues the tradition of Musicals in Hooksett, and I believe it has added some excitement to show off the talents of all our students.
The process began with selecting a relevant show that would include a large cast. Dear Edwina, Jr., was appealing because it was a fun and exciting work from the beginning to the end. It has a number of good reminders to kids of all ages, and the adults felt the fun songs and energetic acting would captivate the audience from the opening.
My thanks go out to numerous people: This production could not go on without the contributions of Mrs. Michelle Fuller, who worked with students on set design, scenery and props, Mrs. Bernadette Olsen, who gave direction on sewing and creating costumes for the show, and Mr. Bill Trimmer, whose crew helped with set pieces and construction. A special “Thank You” to Ms. Lauren Benson, who has handled the many details of putting together the playbill, website, biography and headshot wall, as well as the DVD recordings of the production. And I could not have done without the help of Mr. Brandon Davini, who this year took the reins of teaching all the music and working with the soloists. The hard work and dedication of these teachers are contagious and immeasurable!
I would also like to show appreciation for our administrators, Mr. Matt Benson and Mr. Brad Largy, as well as my fellow staff members, custodians, parents, and most importantly, the performers and crew. These students worked extremely hard during classes, gave up free time practicing at home and on a weekend to put on this excellent production. All their hard work has paid off. Bravo!!
In closing, I would personally like to thank the students and all the families of Hooksett. It has my distinct privilege to work with all the students I have over the past 21 years. The 8th grade musical has been a BIG part of my life here at Cawley for the past 12 years, and it a fond memory I will take with me when I retire at the end of the school year! Thank you for your support of the Arts here in Hooksett!
Sit back and enjoy the show!
