Davison High School

 End Notes

Notes from the Director

To the audience:

It is with great pleasure that I am a part of this special anniversary of 50 years.  I can tell you with sincerity that I have felt a large responsibility to Davison High School's music department, Davison's community, Varsity Choir and Pit Orchestra members and to the memory of Miss Bird when planning and producing this years show.  When starting this project back in the fall, it seemed very overwhelming because I wanted to make this year very memorable.  I wanted to make sure that not only my students would feel proud, but our Varsity Choir and Pit Orchestra alumni would, too.  I am so proud of the legacy that DHS music has made.  I am so glad that you are here, and that you can enjoy the fruits of our labor.  Here is to another 50 years!!

To my students:

I appreciate your hard work, your patience and dedication to the process of musical theatre.  I hope that the new students this year have learned a lot and that this will motivate you to work harder next year.  I hope that my returning students have learned to mentor, learned to become better organized and feel that they have grown.  Not only is it my goal for all of you to learn to become better performers, but it is my hope that you have learned more about yourself and the amount of teamwork that is needed to be successful.  You can't always do it alone, and you won't always get along with everyone.  However, you make it work for the greater good...and it always pays off.  Love you all.... JLO is proud.

To my parent volunteers:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!  I am so thankful to have such great choir parents that go above and beyond to make things go smoother.  Special thanks to Mr. Weidman, Mr. and Mrs. Leach, Mr. Alband and Mrs. Bozynski.

To my colleagues:

1. Thank you, Hollis Barker, for being my right-hand man during this production.  Your vocal coaching, acting advice and shared thoughts have made this production smoother for me and the students.  I really appreciate your help.

2. Thank you, Becky Holt, for your time in rehearsal playing for our practices.  The kids benefit from it so much.  It is very much appreciated!

3. Thank you, Tom Tuttle, for your help and organization during musical.  It is so nice to have the house taken care of and things taken care of.  I really appreciate your leadership in this process!

4. Thank you, James C. Schuster, for making this production a real collaboration.  Not every high school has a choir/band teacher mix that works as well as we do together.  I am very fortunate to work alongside you in an environment where we both strive to create a musical that is professional and of utmost quality.

To my husband:

Thank you, Aaron, for handling all the parent duties all the countless days I've been away during rehearsal.  I appreciate all your help so that I can be up at school so much.  (Especially the last two weeks). Thanks, honey!
