A Note From the Director:

The magic of the theatre is the ability to make everything you see on the stage appear effortless. As a director, I know I have done my job if the audience isn't aware of the countless hours of rehearsal, sewing, and construction that have preceded opening night.  At DSA, I am very fortunate to have an incredible team of people who have all worked to make this magic happen.

First, Mr. Dino Taronis, our Technical Director.  He and I came up with our design concept while sitting on a bench in Central Park.  I wish all design meetings could be held in picturesque locations.  Thanks to Mr. Taronis and the Magnet Technical Theatre students, the set is everything I imagined, and so much more.  Thank you, Mr. Taronis.

Next, Ms. Rachel Burke, our dramaturge.  Ms. Burke's job was to help our cast understand the text, with all its rhythms and nuances.  Ms. Burke, who is an amazing English teacher at Legacy High School, gave up her own time to come and work with our cast here at DSA.  Thanks to her, we understood the 500 year old jokes and were able to pass the humor on to you.

Mr. Matt Bidart, our Theatre Manager, also worked as an acting coach, giving countless hours to our production.  His individualized coaching enabled our students to work on text, even when they were not on stage.  Mr. Bidart, along with Mr. Timothy Beringer, also coached our competition monologues for the Utah Shakespeare Festival Competition.  Thank you both for the time and effort you put in helping our students to excel.

The promotional materials for this show were created by Ms. Kayla Wagner.  Her skills as a designer are unmatched.  From posters, to programs, to T-shirts, Ms. Wagner's work is amazing.  On top of that, as Thespian Advisor, she has organized the concessions and ushers.  Thank you, Ms. Wagner for making DSA Theatre look incredible.

I also want to thank all of the students who have had a part in creating the magic, and the parents who support them.  From the actors, who gave up part of their summer vacation, to the costumers, who stitched everything you see being worn, to the technicians who created the amazing set, lights, sound, and props.  We could not have done this show without your.

Finally, I would like to thank our DSA administration, especially Mr. Misel, Principal, and Mr. Bashay, Vice-Principal.  Without their support, our summer rehearsals and trip to the Utah Shakespeare Festival would not become a reality.  We couldn't do the amazing work we do without them.

Thank you all for making the magic happen.
