What a year!!! You can imagine our excitement when we finally got the greenlight for this year’s Musical. After a year of singing and acting online, it’s thrilling to be in person once more. In truth, I have never had a more enthusiastic and dedicated cast and crew. What fun to be playing some of our favorite Disney characters and their Disney children in Descendants the Musical.
I am always astonished at the level of talent of the students at Dover Sherborn, and we are extraordinarily blessed to have the world’s most supportive school administration. While rehearsing and performing with masks has not always been easy, we are just so grateful to get to be performing together.
Thank you to my fellow directors, Geoff Herrmann and Ardys Flavelle, who not only nurture the music program but also step in to help with scenes, dance drills and anything else needed. I am so grateful to have worked for the past 7 years with both of you. Kudos to my co-choreographers, Jenna Eiten and Izzy Taylor, who for the first time choreographed and created many of the dances. What an honor it has been to watch you grow from student to teacher. You will be missed.
A huge thank you to Alice Mackay for your bold and somewhat crazy set design. Endless admiration to Mindy Allen for fearlessly taking on the technical side of the show. A standing ovation to the many parent and crew volunteers who arrived each Saturday ready to do whatever was needed. We had an amazing graffiti-team that turned the Isle of the Lost into a magical place.
Our Parent Volunteers were headed up by Purvi Patel and Raechel Hwang this year. They took on the mammoth task of converting previous years into a duplicatable process for future parent volunteers. They processed over 100 emails! 1000 thank yous.
I am so grateful for the generosity of the families involved in the drama program.The production is only fantastic because of your enthusiasm, time and energy.
