The Little Mermaid - May 24 - June 08, 2024

  DIRECTOR'S NOTES

It was 2010 and I was asked to direct and choreograph the inaugural production at this scenic theater. It was such a pleasure that I have been back year after year. Some highlights in these past years have been unforgettable. It would be too difficult to choose a favorite as each show feels like 'a child.' Some were prettier, others more difficult, but they all left me with feelings of joy, exhilaration, and exhaustion.

I am immensely grateful for all those I have worked, laughed, and learned from. There are too many to mention and those people know how profoundly I have appreciated and loved them.

I'll never forget Newsies, the moments in Mamma Mia that were tingling. The total blast that was Hairspray. And The Little Mermaid - this latest child has been difficult, it has been beautiful, and mostly it has been one of the most special. How fortunate I am to share this one with so many loved family members. They have come to my rescue, they have been such a relief, and definitely something I have rejoiced over.

Hilary, Alexandra, Julia, and Cora are my family, but so are several in this cast. Kellie, Sam, Adam, Chad, London, and Eliza are so loved and so very dear to me.

Thanks to each of these. Also, for Tricia - what a pleasure it has been to create with her. Thanks to Lisa, Jocelyn, Dwight, Shauna, Matt, Ben and all those who have labored on this story. I am very grateful for each of you.

Finally, remember what Eric tells his Ariel, "Dancing is a language that is felt instead of heard."

And I agree.
