I love this musical.
Which feels amazing, because I had decided it was terrible before ever seeing it.
So easy to sit in judgment of things we haven't seen or experienced.
If my dear friend Allison Rich hadn't directed it at San Jose Stage Company a few years ago, I might never have known the deep, honest heart of this musical.
There's nothing I can tell you here that will increase your enjoyment or deepen your understanding of MAMMA MIA!, because it doesn't need Cliff's Notes or an annotated text. There is no hidden meaning, no secret code, no alchemical formulae required.
This musical is all heart.
Which works out nicely, because this cast is all heart as well.
