EXTRA! EXTRA! NEWSIES TAKE OVER EAST HARTFORD!
This summer our cast and crew have worked tirelessly to bring the story of the 1899 Newsboys Strike to life on our stage. It’s seems only fitting we have one of the youngest casts in our history portraying these courageous newsies. While many have heard the old acting adage, never work with children or animals, we are inspired by the energy, passion, and pure joy our young cast brings to our company. I am continually inspired by the power of our youth, not just in our story but in our world today. While we are excited to have all these talented folks as part of our history we are even more excited they chose to let us be a part of theirs. I can’t wait to see the change they will all bring to the world. But for today, please enjoy while they ‘Carry the Banner’ of this amazing story of strength, fortitude, and proof that no one is too small to make a difference.

Big News! East Hartford Summer Youth Festival turns 60 next year! We are proud to have served the community and provided quality musical theater experiences to “theater kids” young and old for nearly six decades! It has been our honor and privilege to be a part of our members and audiences’ lives, helping to make magical theater memories.
As we look towards the future of our beloved community theater, we can’t help but be humbled by its past. EHSYF has been a labor of love from its creation in 1964. Countless volunteers have made the dream possible- giving of their time, talents, and passion to make each and every production a success. Invaluable as well, are the many individual donors, small business owners, and town organizations who have generously supported the EHSYF mission financially.
Over the years we have had almost 2100 members! Each and every one is an important part of EHSYF’s story and it is our hope that we can reconnect with many of our alumni for this 60th anniversary!
