I don't quite hate writing End Notes as much as I hate saying "goodbye," but it's close.
So why write End Notes now, this year, for this play? Surely no one would miss them if this were a blank page.
But I'm really going to miss these seniors. And since I never say "goodbye" (only "see you next time!"), I will leave you with my End Notes for the kiddos I've watched grow from children to adults.
David- What a long, strange trip it's been. Thank you for giving me and the theatre program a chance and also for giving me my perfect villain. I couldn't ask for more.
Rahnya- I am so lucky that you found EA Theatre! You bring humor and heart to our cast, and I love that you always uplift others.
Alayisha- Thank you for all you have given, not only to EAHS Theatre, but to the choir program as well. Your castmates and I are all the better for having been able to work alongside your talent.
Mika- Thank you for always working on the sometimes-tedious, never-glamorous backstage tasks. We can't present a show unless all of that hardwork is put in ahead of time. We're lucky that you lent us your grit alongside your acting and vocal talents.
Parker- Saying "I'm proud" isn't enough, but I don't think anything would be. By the feather of the birds, be patient, for the world is broad and wide. I can't wait to see what's next.
Nevon- I almost can't remember a time when you weren't a part of theatre. Your presence is felt at every production, whether you're rocking out on stage as our lead or you're pulling the ropes for our curtains. You can do it all.
Noah- I cannot overstate how much your reliability has been a gift to our shows and to me, personally. Knowing you can always count on someone to follow through is a rare thing, and I do not take it for granted.
Amiya- I remember you coming to watch Advanced Theatre rehearse when you were a freshman, saying to your friends, "that's gonna be me." And now it is. You were a joy on and off the stage each and every year.
Quinesha- You have helped me and the cast out more times than I can count: actor, singer, dancer, dance captain, director. I am so proud of how you have developed your natural leadership skills over these last 4 years.
Sahara- What will I ever do without the other half of my brain??? Thank you for always knowing exactly whatever crazy idea I had in my head for a costume or set design, especially when no one else got it! It has been so great to work with someone who understands me so accurately.
Kaden- You are capable of so much, and that was evident the first time you were in my class. Thank you for bringing us all so much laughter along with your acting talent.
Love,
Doc (and Grandma Shaniece)
Now, go do big things.
