Composer:Darko Tresnjak who is a director of plays, musicals and opera and who has also won many awards like the Tony award, Obie award, Drama Desk award, and Outer Critics Circle awards. Being the artistic director of the Hartford Stage in Connecticut, he has been able to inspire many other who wants to be like him in the future.

       OPRA

PLACE;GAZA TIME; 113 B.C

ACTI: Curtain rises as we hear the philistines at Gaza trying to force isrealitesto work. As curtain is raised they see the background the temple of Dragon, god of the philistines with Lamentations. But samson is notthat sure of his drink inspired by the great song sung by his fellow country men. He boast of his swored he has won against his enemies whiles the Hebrews with soo much joy as they acknowledge him with Dalila to pay him homage.

 

 

  ACTII: The beautiful Dalila in the house of her victim her newly found husband.She has never loved anyone more than him before ( the enemy of her country). She being able to know his secret was a very difficult tasks for hir since she was on a mission to destroy samson, but samson being head over hills with delilah may allow a chance of hhim letting the cat ou of the bag. Later Dalila finally discovered Samsons secret on were his stenght comes from. She decieved him and cut his hair off. She turned him in to the Philistines his enemies.

 

 

ACTIII: In the dungeon were he was hidden,the Philistine rejoiced as they see the poor, worthless and powerless samson. Even Dalila mocked him as well, but samson did not give up. He prayed to His GOD to give him another strnght. Sauddenly the unexpected happenedd; God listen to his prayers. Samson was given the maximum strenght and he letar on defeated his enemies nad their conquerors. 

 

 

Famous Arias from this Opera

In the Opera, Delila is responding to Samsons words Delila i love you in french, which was repeated between the first and second verses of her aria. She aslo sings a very popular songs to Samson as she decieves him into cutting his hair. In music this aria is notated as a D-flat with the signature of 3/4 for the verse and it common time. The mellamatic setting of the lyrics present a certain challenge for the perforrmer of this type of aria which requires legato singing ober a wide range.
