Director's Notes
This production represents a number of firsts for our department. This marks the first children's show our department has produced since I took over the sponsorship of the Drama Club in 2010. It also represents our largest cast in over ten years; many of our cast members in this show are underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores). This is, of course, very good news for me (and the Drama Club in general), as it means that our productions will be fully stocked for years to come.
Yet, even as we look to the future, we can't help but look back at the past. We are losing some dedicated seniors, who have made our shows run smoothly backstage and look great onstage. They will truly be missed, but we all can take comfort in knowing that our Theatre Department is better because of the contributions of these actors and technicians.
This show has been a joy to direct. It has been truly the most collaborative production process I have ever been through as a director; many of the jokes and "bits" you are going to see in this show are the result of the actors and director working together to craft the wildest, funniest, and silliest material we could come up with.
So sit back, relax, take your mind off of cake, and get ready to go on a triumphalist trip with the cast and crew of Seuss Odyssey!
