Janea Dahl's Snow White - April 16

Enlightened Theatrics

  Director's Note

The theme of Enlightened Theatrics’ season is: “We are Better Together”. Janea Dahl’s Snow White is a perfect embodiment of that concept. Throughout the course of the play, we learn that sometimes our chosen family creates the best support system. We meet a friendly cast of villagers, animals, Queens (both good and evil), dwarves, and of course, Snow White herself. Without the help of the Dwarves and the Prince, our young ingénue would be lost in the woods.

This production is very special because our Music Director, Laura Killip, has written beautiful original songs for your students to sing. When commissioned to do this project (and any project), Laura brings expertise, style, and passion to the recording studio rehearsal room. Our students have learned a lot from her, and we are very grateful to have had her on the project.

Throughout my time in theatre, both educational and professional, I have observed theatre teaching students empathy, collaboration, creativity, and so, so much more. Theatre creates a community that is a safe space for all who participate to discover and explore. Students are asked to stretch their imaginations to new heights when creating even the simplest of characters. It is important now, more than ever, that our youngest generations learn to listen, love, and support each other. That is what we teach at Enlightened Theatrics.

Thank you so much to our supporters, volunteers, interns, and parents. Without you we could not have put this beautiful show together.

We hope that your students have been inspired and excited by this opportunity, and that it is the start of a lifetime passion of Performing Art. Please join us in celebrating the rest of our theatrical season A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Broadway Dreams, our Summer Camps, and Annie.

Warmly,

Aubrey Near

Director
