 ACTS 

ACT I  
Prologue: Titania plays with a changeling child she adopted after the mother died in childbirth. The Amazons attack Theseus' army at his castle.
Scene I: Hippolyta and Theseus anxiously await their wedding day. Egeus, Hermia’s father, begs Theseus to uphold Athenian law that will make his daughter marry Demetrius or face death. Lysander and Hermia tell Helena about their plans to elope.
Scene II: Six local craftsman, known as “the mechanicals”, come together to prepare a play for Theseus and Hippolyta’s wedding.
ACT II  
Scene I: A servant of Oberon, Puck, meets with a servant of the fairy queen, Titania. Titania and Oberon meet in the wood to argue over the changeling boy. Oberon tells Puck to get a flower known as “love-in-idleness” for Titania’s eyes so that she falls
Scene II: Oberon puts the potion on Titania’s eyes while she sleeps. Puck mistakes Lysander for Demetrius and puts the potion on his eyes instead. When he wakes, he sees Helena and falls in love.
ACT III  
Scene I: The townsfolk get together in the wood near Titania’s bed to rehearse their play. Puck changes Bottom into an ass, which is the first thing Titania sees when she awakes.
Scene II: Puck reports to Oberon of Titania’s love of Bottom the donkey. Hermia and Demetrius enter and Oberon realizes Puck’s mistake.
INTERMISSION
Scene II (continued): Oberon tells Puck to “overcast the night” and to make things right. Puck confuses the fight between Demetrius and Lysander.
