DIRECTOR'S NOTE...........

The score for The Baker’s Wife is Stephen Schwartz at his most charming; it is impossible not to fall in love with the lilting romance of the melodies and the honesty of the lyrics. It is a show about relationships, though it is never flip about the realities of love and the emotional responsibilities we have towards those closest to us. It brings to light the need for forgiveness and understanding with surprising gravitas. Working on this piece has given us an opportunity to discuss the unique connections we share with friends and neighbors, as well as romantic partners, and the power of peaceful communication in our communities. With open hearts and just a little bit of honesty, we can be more accepting of each other's differences without judgement, and, with lots of heart and a little bit of love, we can change our worlds to be as beautiful as Schwartz's lilting waltzes.

I am proud of the young people in this production for diving into this material with passion and for all of their hard work. I cherish the time spent working with this group and the adult volunteers who, as always, have gone above and beyond to make this experience beautifully unforgettable.
