A Note from the Director...
Before it became a beloved stage musical, Footloose captured the hearts of audiences as the iconic 1984 film that defined a generation. Many of you may remember the days of cassette tapes playing your favorite songs on repeat, practicing dance moves in your bedroom, and, of course, the unforgettable image of Ren McCormack dancing his frustrations away in that famous warehouse scene. The story’s energy, heart, and message struck a chord then—and its celebration of youth, resilience, and the power of music and movement continues to resonate today.
Footloose, in addition to its incredible music and high energy, reminds us of the power of young voices, the importance of community, and the courage it takes to stand up for joy, expression, and one another. At its core, this show celebrates the freedom to be fully ourselves—and the incredible things that can happen when a community comes together to lift one another up.
I am so incredibly proud of this cast, crew, and production team. Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of watching these students work with dedication, passion, and heart. Their commitment to this production and to each other has been inspiring, and it has been a true joy to watch them grow and shine on stage. These students remind me every day why I do what I do, and this process has been filled with so much joy.
It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome students from Boston College High School and Pierce Middle School into our program this year. They have brought tremendous talent and enthusiasm, enriching our community in meaningful ways. I am deeply grateful to their teachers who have guided them to this point, and I hope that during our time together, I was able to share even one lesson that will help them continue to grow as performers and artists.
