I am honored and blessed to be part of such an amazing production. “Hairspray” has brought out the best, not only in our student performers, but also of the faculty, administration and student body as well. The support that has surrounded this musical has been truly inspiring. The history department’s marketing campaign brought to life professional level posters, fliers, and a wealth of multimedia presentations that exceeded all expectations. All faculty involved in this campaign dedicated so much time and effort that they have my undying gratitude and respect. The Parents Association worked tirelessly to fundraise through raffles and donations to raise over $5,000, and have been most gracious in their support of our production. I would like to thank all the Administration for all their encouragement and assistance throughout this endeavor. A special thank you goes to our Principal Saul Gootnick, and our Assistant Principal Neil Rosenblatt for giving us this opportunity and having the vision to bring this production to life. Andrea Kotsay for being an immense help, not only creating the entire program, but serving as my friendly reminder of all things due. Catherine Leib for being one of the most talented people I know, and bringing a level of professionalism to our students through the amazing choreography seen tonight. Larry O’Connell for being my greatest source of inspiration, and a man whom I have learned more from than anyone else. You are a genius that I am proud to call my friend. To all of my Music Department brothers; Jeff Arzberger, Walter Birkhold, Chris Lee, and Ryan King, thank you for going beyond what was expected and proving once again why our department is more than 5 colleagues, it is home and we are family. I publically want to thank my loving wife Samantha for putting up with the late nights, the grumpy demeanor, and the absent mindedness that comes with directing a show of this caliber. You are my rock and I love you always.
Most importantly this musical could and would not succeed without the talented, and dedicated members of the cast and crew. I have been privileged to work with so many wonderful individuals that the success tonight completely belong to them. Their devotion and commitment has been inspiring to say the least. At its core this musical brings to light the lessons of tolerance and equality, and I hope that the message grows with all of you that leave here tonight. I do indeed know where I am going because I know where I have been.
