as The Duke of Plaza-Toro, A Grandee of Spain

(Baritone) Tony is happy to be back in another G&S opera – one in which he first appeared several decades ago – this time as the pompous Duke of Plaza-Toro. He has appeared in HMS Pinafore as Sir Joseph Porter and Princess Ida as King Hildebrand, both with FVS and performed at the International G&S Festival in Buxton, England. Recently, he appeared as Baron Zeta in Merry Widow with North Shore Light Opera. You can see him as the Wolf in Sondheim’s Into the Woods at North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre later this year. A long-time member of the Vancouver Bach Choir, Tony has served as its President and its Executive Director and regularly sings with West Vancouver’s The Londoners.

(Baritone) Dann is thrilled to be making his debut with FVS. This performance marks his fourth involvement in a production of The Gondoliers and his first time as Luiz. In previous productions, he had the pleasure of appearing as Giuseppe, twice as Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, and as a sailor in HMS Pinafore. Dann has earned multiple Community Theatre Coalition awards and nominations for his work. Select credits include leads in Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Noel Coward’s Private Lives, Leading Ladies, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Dann has also had many roles as part of a production team.

  • Larry Doan head shot

as Don Alhambra Del Bolero, The Grand Inquisitor

(Tenor) Classically trained and hailing from Vancouver, Larry sang with the Vancouver Opera for six seasons.  He has performed in many of the FVS’s G&S and Broadway shows over the past 20 years, appearing first as Frederic in the 1999 production of Pirates of Penzance and most recently, Horace Vandergelder in the 2017 production of Hello, Dolly!  This year he is exceptionally excited as it will be the first time he has the opportunity to be on stage with his daughter, Jennifer in Abbotsford and later in Harrogate, UK.
