Do You Read Me? - December 12 - December 13, 2020

Frey Productions

 End Notes

Director's Note

“But if humanity goes to live on the majestic red planet, who is humanity? Not scientists, but normal people!”

Like many other children, from the time I was little I was looking up into the night sky, staring at the stars, fascinated by the vastness of space. It is humbling to think about how tiny we are compared to the extensive outer stratosphere.

In these difficult times, we can easily get caught up in our own little world and forget how truly magnificent and expansive the universe is. Kathryn Funkhouser's cosmic comedy was written for a digital platform and is the perfect piece for Frey Productions' first virtual venture. Dr. Weaver coordinates a space mission to implement a colony on Mars for (what else?) but growing an eggplant.

Thank you to this amazing cast and all of the other multimedia artists who contributed to the making of this show. And special thanks to Jack for the opportunity to direct Frey Productions' first virtual show.

This play is silly and fun and is both an entertaining experience, as well as a reminder that the world does not only revolve around us. It is in this spirit that we’ve decided to donate the proceeds from this performance to the Center for Food Action.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy a production that’s out of this world!
