Frozen Jr. - May 20 - May 30, 2021

 Director's Note

Note from the Director:

In March 2020, we were two weeks away from opening our production of "Frozen, Jr." when we had to shut down due to the pandemic. We were in fact...Frozen.

Mr. Revels and I were determined to produce a musical with the kiddos once restrictions were lifted and created a hybrid version which you will be enjoying this evening.  This production has been filmed virtually in students homes in front of green screens and not wearing masks, as well as on location at the FVMS Middle School where they are masked, but in costume and having fun!

The set designs you will see as green screen and stage backgrounds are all student designed from our tech crew last year, as well as the crew on this year's production.  You will also see scene transitions which feature painted artwork which were designed by the artists on our tech team, as well. Each tech member was to pick a favorite scene from the show and animate how they interpret that scene by using paints and a canvas or digital art. These pieces of art are a very important part to our storytelling in this production.

Our cast became true superstars as in 90 minutes they would be taught the choreography of the musical number, incorporate the staging, rehearse the number for the camera, work with the tech crew on tech elements, and record the final musical number for filming...all while masked and in costume!  We had a blast and the kiddos got a great workout while improving their artistic discipline.

"Frozen" is a symbol for lifting the freeze so we can return to Spring. We hope soon once it's safe to be back again with our community and produce live theater for live audiences!

We hope you enjoy the magic and transformation in our production of "Frozen, Jr." that we have all worked very hard for.  Thank you for joining us to celebrate the theatrical journey.

See you soon in Arendale!

~Theatrically yours,

Kristin Lundberg
