A Note from the Director
Thank you for attending The Grayling High School Players production of Seussical. One of my favorite places to be is the theater working with the GHS Players. Theater is a living organism that is constantly changing and adapting. We spend many hours learning choreography, vocals, music, lines, blocking, and scene changes. We spend even more hours rehearsing, perfecting make-up, trying on costumes, making and fixing light cues, scene changes, and perfecting the sound. For many, these last couple weeks are a 14 hour day of school and rehearsing our show.
When you spend that much time with a group of people, that group starts to become like family. We have all the ups and downs a family has. We laugh and cry, and agree and disagree. For the past two weeks we gather together at 4:45 p.m. and enjoy a meal, provided by the greatest parents ever. This act of sharing a meal brings us all together, cast, crew, staff, alumni, and parents. It makes us stronger, and enforces the belief that without each other our show will not succeed.
I would like to thank all the production staff that helped make our show a success. Thank you to Chuck, Hannah, and Sam for pushing our cast to sound their best. Thank you to Melissa, who always goes beyond what is expected in choreography, and to Mike Roebuck for sharing his talents as well. Thanks to Mark Snyder for constructing this awesome set.. To Bonnie, Ilene, Gretchen, Mary, Liz, and Andrea for all the hours of finding costumes, sewing, and pressing. Ally for great hair. Justin for his theatrical stage makeup talents. A big shout out to Marlana for making sure we are fed. Of course, we could not do this without the support of administration and the CASD school board, who believe in the power of the arts. A great big special thanks to the parents who support their kids in the crazy theater life. Last but surely not least, a special thank you to the class of 2022. It has been a privilege to have been your director. I am excited to see where the journey of life takes you.
Thank you for coming out and enjoy the show,
Mark Binert-Armstrong
