Director's Note
Welcome to Guilford Park High School's production of Freaky Friday! It's our department's second musical production and fourth show overall. Thank you for coming out to support the arts education. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with our students on shows like this that challenge and inspire audiences and performers alike.
Freaky Friday tells the story of a mother-daughter duo facing challenges that are familiar to many of us. They don't understand each other. Their characters grow as they experience walking in another person's shoes. Ellie learns about the challenges of adulthood while Katherine is reminded that being a teenager isn't so easy either. Their mutual growth finally brings them back to where they belong. Relationships are important. They need to be nourished and understood. Even when we think we know what someone else is going through, it may take a bit of magic to understand what's happening. This play gives the characters that chance.
It has been a true delight to work with all of our students on this show and I am proud of the work that they have done. Months of planning and preparation have brought us to this moment, and I hope that you can all appreciate the love and dedication that they have poured into this production.
