Notes from the Director and Principal

From the Director

“The difference between a cow and a bean is a bean can begin an adventure.”
― Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods

Welcome to our production of Into the Woods Jr., a spellbinding tale by Stephen Soundheim and James Lapine which intertwines the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel. Add an evil witch, a baker, his wife and a very mysterious man, and you have a recipe for a musical in which everyone's wishes often come with a price.

Our adventure began last fall with a group of students coming together to commit to this amazing production. We planted our seed and have continued to grow and flourish over the last few months. Countless hours of rehearsing, collaborating, dancing, singing and bringing these characters to life has brought us to our performance today. Hard work, determination, dedication and perseverance have paid off. It is time to watch our talented students shine brighter than ever! I am so proud of them for taking risks and stepping out of their comfort zones to sharpen their craft as singers and actors. The students who walked into the auditions have transformed, much as the characters do in the play, with more confidence, friendship and courage.

This play would not be possible without the unwavering support of our administration, creativity and dedication of our production staff, hard work of our technical crew, and the time and patience of our parents and volunteers. We cannot thank you enough for taking this journey with us!

We hope you enjoy the show, and that you are inspired to venture into the woods to find your happy ever after!
