One Stoplight Town - October 21 - October 23, 2021

Henry E. Lackey High School

 End Notes

Dear Henry E. Lackey High School Community--

Welcome back to our auditorium! The last time our students performed on this stage was on November 9th, 2019, yet our students continued to grow academically, socially, and artistically. I could not be more proud of our students taking on the challenge of being the first production of the 2021-2022 theatre season, especially in the short five-week rehearsal process. In the past, our productions have had seven to eight weeks of rehearsals. The performance you will witness tonight is a testament to the students’ dedication and passion for their art.

One Stoplight Town is a story about community. Within a community, there are challenges and triumphs. During the last year and a half, we have relied heavily on our community. The challenge has been connecting with each other, when we might not be able to be physically together. The triumph has been innovating ways of connecting and supporting one another. We are fortunate this year to be able to be together again. The beauty of a community is that it will always be here when you need it.

Speaking of community, I would like to thank the Henry E. Lackey High School community for supporting our programs. Specifically, I would like to thank Mrs. Kathy Perriello and the rest of the administrative team for their support during this production. While our students might not see the hard work they put in "behind the scenes," it is appreciated to ensure our production was possible. On a personal level, I would like to thank Ms. Rachel Stoner and Ms. Amanda Hastings for all of their support and dedication to this fall production. Without you, the production would not have been possible.

My biggest thank you for this evening is to the students. Many of these students have only had the opportunity to work on virtual productions. We have had to learn and relearn how to put together a show in front of a live audience. Just like in the story you will see tonight, there have been many challenges that we were able to overcome together. I am thankful for their patience, dedication, and drive to make this production top notch. From the lights and sound, to the costumes, props, and acting, everything you see on the stage tonight is a product of the students making our vision a reality.

Before our production begins this evening, take a second and look around the auditorium. I will never take for granted the ability to come together as a community to enjoy art. We appreciate you coming out to support our students and their artistic endeavors.

Enjoy the show!

Respectfully,

Raymond A. Gore
