Philadelphia born and bred, Kurt has performed roles in Sweeney Todd, Chess, Jesus Christ Superstar, 1776, Chicago, Pippin, A Little Night Music, 42nd Street and Driving Miss Daisy. • Phil Juris head shot

    Phil Juris

Phil Jurus is no stranger to the Hershey Area Playhouse. He has appeared in numerous productions since 2010, including “Fiddler On the Roof, Music Man, Secret Garden” and the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in 2013. You might also recognize him as one of the volunteers who sells raffle tickets for the shows. Creative writing is one of his many artistic talents. In 1996 he began writing annual stories about the elves at the North Pole. They have been widely circulated over the years. One was published in a national jeweler magazine. Another was used in as a radio play by the staff of the Hummelstown Sun in 2015. Phil is excited to be reading two of the Elf stories for this “Holiday Card from the Hershey Area Playhouse” as their offering during this pandemic. This continues the theatrical tradition of the “Ghost Light” at the Playhouse. Though the stage is bare of sets and actors, and the seats are empty, it is not darkened. Theater lives!
