Welcome, everyone, to Annie JR! Annie JR marks my directorial debut at Hommocks Middle School, and it's the fourth time I've had the privilege of working on this show. With each return to this material, Annie's spirit continues to inspire me. Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, Annie's story exemplifies perseverance in the face of adversity. As an 11-year-old, she teaches us the invaluable lessons of resilience and the importance of leaning on close friends and family, whether chosen or not, to navigate life's challenges. And, of course, she reminds us that, no matter how tough things may seem, the "sun will come out tomorrow." These messages are timeless, resonating with audiences of all ages.
From the very first day of school, our dedicated students and staff have invested their time and energy into preparing for this production. I couldn't be prouder of their hard work. They've embarked on an unforgettable journey, one that I hope has left an indelible mark on them as individuals and budding artists. This transformative experience wouldn't be possible without the countless hours of dedication invested in our production, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire cast, crew, staff, and parent volunteers for their unwavering support. It truly takes a community to put on a show.
All of our students involved in the production, both on and off the stage, are an integral part of Team Annie JR. As we present this amazing show to you, it's important to me to emphasize that, beyond the final performance, it's the journey our students have undertaken to reach this point that holds the most significance. The process of collaboration, learning, and bonding is what truly matters. Each member has contributed to the cohesion of our thriving community, where no role is more important than the next. Throughout the rehearsal process, it's been truly inspiring to witness our students not only grow in their artistic abilities but also to witness their mutual support, upliftment, and encouragement of one another. On and off the stage, they have become a team and a family.
As we take the stage in our performance, I invite you to witness the genuine relationships that have blossomed in our community during this process. My hope is that you'll also take something meaningful from Annie's journey and spirit. Thank you for joining us and for your support of the arts here in Mamaroneck.
Enjoy the show!
